Sailing with Sas, Ken, and the gang! Sat 13th August 2011.

This year the venue for our annual sailing weekend with Ken Sas and the kids was Kinsale and, before I go further, I have to point out that when you put our family together with the O Farrells you get a fairly overwhelming mixture of enthuasism and confusion, with lots and lots of good fun thrown in! Picture 10 of us crowding the small cockpit area under half sails as Ken and the lads work 4 fishing rods off the stern. The boat slows on every tack and the lads reel in mackrel, three and four at a time, before it speeds up once more. Of course they want to tack over and over again and I am working flat out to hold the required course as the shoal crosses the bay. Ken goes from rod to rod removing the catch and passing it to Carina who bags each fish seperately (very posh alltogether we reckoned). Now its the boys against the girls, and they excitedly tally their mackerel headcount to find that the boys are just ahead! But Caoimhe saves the day at the last moment for the girls with a magnificently speckled cod which we reckoned was worth 5 mackerel, and so the girls carried the day and the competition. And so back to the Trident Marina where we dug out our trusted barbeque machine, attached it to Neidin's pushpit, wrapped the cod with diced plum in a tin-foil parcel, and enjoyed a long wonderful evening aboard. Great!
