Turned and gave chase but there was no catching the lightweight Crown Duel as she headed for Hook Head under full kevlar sails. Settled for some photos instead and turned back on our original course!

I CHALLANGE YOU TO A RACE YOUNG MAN.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE OBVIOUSLY VERY ARROGANT CAPTAIN ABOUT YOUR BOAT AND WHAT SPEED IT CAN DO. I HAVE A BASIC 36 FOOTER AND I WILL RACE YOU ON SUNDAY 15TH FROM HOOK LIGHTHOUSE TO DUNMORE AND BACK. MY BOAT 'THE KAISER' HAS WHITE SAILS.
THE LOSER HAS A BUCKET OF SEA WATER POURED OVER HIS HEAD BY HIS CREW IN FULL VIEW OF THE OTHER BOAT. RACE COMMENCE AT 12 NOON.
DUNCAN MOOREHEAD
Duncan.....
ReplyDeleteYOU MAY AS WELL THROW THAT BUCKET OF WATER OVER MY HEAD RIGHT NOW !!!!!
Our boat is a rather rotund former charter boat with in-mast furling and a slightly shortened mast, so we are never going to be the fastest boat in the pack. When I talk about speed I suspect that I am just a little surprised that she is moving at all, and a little exhilerated by her passage through the water. I suspect that your thoroughbed steed would leave us standing and embarrased!! But I would, nonetheless, be delighted to sail with you anywhere so do feel free to give me a shout anytime you wish! We are having great fun out on the water and are hoping for a really long season.
Kind regards.

THANK YOU FIA.
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE AT LEAST AN HONEST SAILOR.
I OBVIOUSLY GOT THE WRONG IMPRESSION FROM YOUR BLOGS.
I will watch out for you and we will sail and drink neat whiskey together sometime.
All the best
Duncan
