Airplanes & Sailboats! Fri 26th and Sat 27th August 2011.

Friday afternoon and evening in Waterford Airport working on the Rutan Long Ez, EI-CMR. Starboard brake a little soft making it difficult to turn right and, therefore, placing it outside acceptable tolerances for high speed taxying. Corrected the problem. Then out onto the Bravo holding area to test the brakes and confirm powerchecks. Everything perfect! Brakes good, and directional control on the ground back to normal. Paperwork next so back to the hangar where Dave Ryan was working on EI-CPI. Lots of banter in the club house and then off to Dunmore East to Neidin, our digs for the night. Darkness was falling as we motored her off her swinging mooring and nursed her into the harbour. Rafted comfortably up against Dermot Greer's beautiful s/y "Yola" and hatched an ambitious plan whereby Dave would start cooking dinner while I raced up-town for a couple of bags of chips. Timed it to perfection, an we had a great repast topped off disgracefully with steaming chips! Great! Up early next morning to ready the boat for a quick trip out into the bay. Looking forward to a gentle sail after last weeks long passage up from Kinsale. Plenty of wind and a moderate sea gave a somewhat boisterous ride but Stefan, Emma, "B", and Dave Ryan, who had not been out with us before seemed fairly at home with the pitching moton. A lovely morning out on the water, and then back to our mooring outside Dunmore East to close up the boat and head back to the airport.  A busy weekend all round!

Passage: Dunmore East to Dunmore East,
Date: Sunday 27th August 2011.
Crew: Stefan, "M", Frieda, Emma, Fearghal, Dave Ryan, and Fia.
Duration: Total 3 Hours.
