Day sail from Kinsale. Sat 30th July 2011.

Passed the fabulously coloured Bullman at Summer Cove as we headed out of Kinsale in sunshine and light winds. Lots of traffic all about us as we passed through the mouth of the harbour and headed for Sandy Cove. Don't know how it got its name because we saw absolutely no sand whatsoever over our short visit? Set anchor in about 25 foot of water, reversed fairly hard to dig it into the sand, watched to ensure that we were holding our position, and decided it was time to swim. Bloody cold! Dived straight, screamed, and was out again in about 10 seconds! Josh and Aimee both took the plunge and had great fun playing around the back of the boat despite the cold. Raising anchor was tricky because I was worried that the boat might drift too close to the rocks (just 40 feet away) during the manouvre, but Josh did a great job at holding it under power and we motored out of the inlet and raised our sails. Despite the fact that Neidin has been with us since 2009, this was Carina's first time out under sail, and I raised just half of our compliment and glided along at a gentle 4 knots. Very pleasant sailing along the headland outside Kinsale before eventually turning for home and our berth at the Trident Hotel. A very
pleasant afternoon !!!
