Thanks to Kieran Hughes for completing the changeover from thirsty incandescent navigational light fittings to new NASA sealed low energy LED fittings. The new fittings use 125 times less power than the original fittings and are far brighter and more visible. The low level fittings were easy to access, but the mast top mooring light required a bosun's chair ascent, always a slightly nerve wracking undertaking whether you are in the chair, or you are working hard on the winch below. And of course all of the usual jokes were cracked when the car was raised to its highest point. "five o'clock.....got to go home now" and "just going down below for a quick snooze"! But Kieran never flinched and within 20 minutes the last of the nav lights had been replaced and Neidin's power consumption under cruise had been massively reduced. Well done!

Incidentally the green/red NASA bow fitting took a few big waves and gave up the ghost only weeks after installation. Greatly disappointed, I removed the fitting, and sent it back to NASA, for repair under guarantee. Within days the repaired unit was returned with a note stating that the original seal appeared to have been imperfect or otherwise broken. The unit has performed very well since, and I have seen it take repeated waves without flinching!
