Day 2. Picked up Geoff in Dunmore. Passage to Waterford. 27th Mar 11.

Geoff Martin joined us for the return passage to Waterford City and, indeed, he will be adding to the crew of Neidin for much of the summer season. So off we set and, once again, the wind Gods obliged and helped us on our way.

I explained that the helmsman is in charge of this ship at all times, unless of course that safety is at risk, in which case I get to make the final decision. Shortly afterwards I was most surprised to see Geoff on the helm calling very specific instructions to each of the lads. "more belly in the headsail", "further out with the boom", "faster on the winch". It was great! That's the way it should be done and the boat sailed all the faster for it! We have tended to be too nice to each other and, in doing so, have allowed the performance of the boat to be somewhat compromised.

And so off to Waterford City and our home on the Marina.

Passage: Dunmore East to Waterford City.
Date: Sunday 27th March 2011.
Crew: Kevin Nolan. Ferghal Dowling. Geoff Martin. Fia.
Duration:  4 hours
